Participant 1
Initial description: I tried to use the same format at the test input and then used the same rules as the examples. This led me to fill in 5 different color shapes on the board.
Final description: I went back to square one and found out that I had made the grid the wrong size. I corrected that and then remade the new one with the rules from the examples. 5 different colors in the grid with same shape as the test input.
Participant 2
Initial description: Just fill in colors into the new image with orange on top, then yellow, pink and green on the next line, and then blue on the bottom.

Participant 3
Initial description: light blue bars remain the same. filled with orange at the center top, then left to right squares are filled with yellow, red, green, then bottom center is blue
Final description: light blue bars remain the same. center top square is filled dark orange. squares left to right in the center are yellow, red, green. center bottom is dark blue

Participant 5
Initial description: fill middle with purple, top with red, bottom with blue, left with yellow, and right with green.
Final description: fill middle with purple, top with red, bottom with blue, left with yellow, and right with green.
Participant 6
Initial description: Identify all red squares in the grid. These red squares serve as the starting points for the red lines. For each red square: a. Extend a horizontal red line from the left edge of the red square until it reaches the right edge of the grid OR until it encounters another red square. This horizontal line should pass through the red square itself. b. Extend a vertical red line from the top edge of the red square until it reaches the bottom edge of the grid OR until it encounters another red square. This vertical line should pass through the red square itself. c. If the horizontal red line intersects another red square, stop extending the line at that point. d. If the vertical red line intersects another red square, stop extending the line at that point. Identify all squares that are completely enclosed within the horizontal and vertical red lines drawn in step 2 for any of the red squares. These enclosed squares are the ones that will be colored blue. Change the color of all enclosed squares identified in step 3 to blue. This will complete the transformation process.

Participant 7
Initial description: One color goes in each of the four quadrants.

Participant 8
Initial description: I just copied the blue lines as they were and then used the examples to fill in the correct color.
