Initial description: I figured that the outside separate squares are the same color as the inner most center square. In this case it was yellow. Then I made the design similar to the examples.
Final description: I made the mistake of not adding the outside squares. Once I saw that, I figured it out. The outer most squares on the four corners match the inner most square. The middle extended squares match the other color (green in this case.)
