Initial description: I believe the gray shapes are supposed to be showing you the middle of the shapes you have to make. with each shape being 3 blocks wide

Final description: The gray blocks are acting as the supports for the shape. Using that as an idea to build upon, you have to fill the proper shape in, with it being 3 blocks wide. From there, you just have to figure out how long the shape should be.
