Initial description: Based on there not really being a pattern, I felt that it must be that it starts in the middle then eliminates objects going counter clockwide in each quadrant. So, center first, then top right, then top left, then bottom right and bottom left.

Final description: It was very difficult trying to figure out what the rule was here as each rule I thought it was seemed to not work. My last guess was that any two sections that were the same in size, regardless of direction, one would be eliminated. The choose on which one to eliminate would be absed on the number of red squares it had within it, with the one with less being eliminated.
