Final description: Copy the colors from the same row, even columns on each side, ignoring the yellow.

Initial description: Resize the grid to 5x4 and fill the black colored squares with orange and the remaining with black.
Final description: Didn't really understand what I was supposed to do.

Initial description: The grid size of the output is definitely 4x5 based on the output examples and the black/red color pattern. For the orientation of the blocks it seems difficult to decipher. I think I identified a sort of "borrow from here and there" from different areas (top left/right etc.) but it is so difficult to identify.
Final description: I was very confident in only the grid size and color pattern. I tried many different times to identify a pattern with orientation of common shapes/color layouts but it seemed nearly impossible for me.

Initial description: Any squares which are black on one side but grey or blue on the other side, should be presented as red. Black and black or blue and grey should be presented as red.
Final description: A combination of black on one side of the input with blue or grey on the other side of the input creates an out put of red. Black and black or grey and blue combinations, equal an output of black.

Initial description: the gray squares were closest to test input, so just trying to narrow down at this point
Final description: I could not figure out a rule and just tried to copy 3 of the 4 different output examples

Final description: All i know is it needs to be changed to a 5x4 grid.

Initial description: Fold the grey squares over the blue squares and use the red color when only one square appears
Final description: I have no idea. I tried think of the yellow in the input as barriers and the grey and blue squares as things that could be combined for outputs. But I came up with no solution.
Participant 9
Initial description: I literally have no idea, I don't think this has a solution. All I know is that the output grid is 4x5
Final description: I know the final output grid should be 4 across and 5 down. I thought maybe the rule was if the same square in the two input grids were not black, then it should be red in that spot.
