Initial description: This one is a difficult one and I'm pretty much using this as a test. From what I understand, the rule here is that you can only turn boxes light blue when they mirror each other. A black box on the left side of the divide has to have another black box on the right side of the divide. Also, I believe that the boxes much touch another black box that is also mirrored to count. At least, that would explain why example one threw me off for a while. This is why in this example, while there are 4 mirrored boxes, none of them are connected thus no light blue boxes should be added.

Final description: Second attempt. I now believe that the solution to this is that a light blue box can only be selected when that box is mirrored on the other side. The test input has a right and left side that is divided by a single blue line vertically. The black boxes on the left can only be correct ones to turn light blue is if they are mirrored by a similar black box on the right.

Initial description: The pattern of the output seems to be shifting the squares with black color to the lighter shade and filling the rest of the board black.

Final description: I thought the output rule was the squares that were red were converted to the light blue color but in a specific pattern with each iteration.
