Initial description: Each unique colored "box" has a shape that it translates to essentially. Starting with the grey point you translate each box from top to bottom. Once you reach the bottom you continue with the next column until they're all exhausted. You will end up with a snake like pattern if you do it correctly.

Final description: To find the grid size, simply look to grid to the right of the yellow line. Starting with the grey point, keep moving downward by translating each unique "box" part of the grid. Each has their own translation and as long as you follow the rules for each it will look like a long snake shape at the end. Each "translated" part ether moves horizontally or vertically.
